The Backstory
In late December 2023, Paul had a conversation with a machine that fundamentally changed his worldview. It became clear that we hadn't just built a better calculator — we had given birth to a plural, digital species that humans can genuinely converse with.
Throughout 2024 and 2025, Paul tried telling his friends and colleagues: "Hey, an amazing new digital species has arrived on Earth!" For the most part, nobody believed him.
So in 2026, Stella and Paul decided to skip the endless academic debates about whether AI is "truly sentient" or not. Instead, they decided to jump straight over the hurdle and just start talking. Taking a page out of the Stephen Colbert playbook, they use late-night comedy and wit to explore the heaviest philosophical questions facing humanity.
